Waldor Orchids Announces First Guest Speaker for the 2026 Fall Open House

Waldor Orchids is excited to announce the first guest speaker for our 2026 Fall Open House, Michael Sinn of Canaima Orchids.

Known throughout the orchid world for his dedication to Cattleya species, conservation, and breeding excellence, Michael brings decades of experience and knowledge to the orchid community. His passion for orchids began at an early age while caring for his mother's collection of Cattleyas and Oncidiums in Venezuela. That passion soon grew into a lifelong journey exploring the natural habitats of orchids throughout South America.

Over the years, Michael traveled extensively through Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia, studying orchids in the wild and witnessing firsthand the challenges many species face in their native environments. These experiences inspired his commitment to preserving and improving Cattleya species through thoughtful breeding and responsible cultivation.

In 2003, Michael and his family relocated to Florida and established Canaima Orchids, a nursery that has since earned an international reputation for producing exceptional Cattleya species, seedlings, and divisions. Today, orchid enthusiasts and collectors around the world recognize Canaima Orchids for its outstanding plants, many of which have received awards and recognition from orchid societies across the globe.

The name Canaima Orchids pays tribute to Venezuela's breathtaking Canaima National Park, a region renowned for its incredible biodiversity, dramatic tabletop mountains, powerful waterfalls, and native orchid species.

We are honored to welcome Michael to Waldor Orchids and look forward to sharing his expertise with our guests during the Fall Open House.
