C. violacea is one of those stunning cattleya species. The flowers are lavender with a lovely diamond dust texture on the petals. ‘Muse’ received a 92 First Class Certificate in 1983. This species can be somewhat difficult to grow, but we have had the mother plant in our collection for years and have been successful at growing it into an 8 ½ “ pot. Make sure the plant is potted in a well drained potting medium and do not repot until the plant has active root growth.
